Seamless equal tees – what are they?

Seamless equal tees (often also called straight tees, equal tees, or simply seamless tees) are pipeline components that enable the creation of a side branch while maintaining the same diameter across all connections. “Seamless” means that the component does not have a welded joint along the pipe run – it is made from a homogeneous material, which enhances its mechanical properties and tightness.

Application of seamless equal tees

Tees of this type are used wherever durability, tightness, and resistance to corrosive factors or high temperatures are paramount. Example areas of application include:

  • gas installations (e.g., transmission networks and internal connection systems),
  • industrial pipelines in the chemical, petrochemical, and food industries,
  • heating and district heating systems,
  • offshore and shipbuilding industries (pipelines, shipboard installations),
  • construction and sanitary installations,
  • automotive and workshops– for specialized solutions and repairs,
  • small workshop and garage projects where a durable, leak-proof connection is required.

Why choose seamless tees?

Seamless components offer several significant advantages that translate into the safety and durability of the installation:

  • superior tightness– the absence of a weld eliminates points potentially more prone to leaks,
  • higher mechanical strength compared to certain welded elements,
  • better resistance in critical areas (e.g., to intergranular corrosion at high temperatures),
  • relatively higher safety when transporting aggressive or hazardous media.

In practice, welded tees can be more cost-effective, but for demanding applications (high pressure, aggressive environments, high temperatures), seamless components are usually the better choice.

Materials – what steel are the tees made of?

In our offer, we exclusively sell products made of stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, and heat-resistant steel. Below is a brief explanation of the terms and examples of grades:

  • stainless steel (austenitic)– commonly used due to its corrosion resistance and good ductility. Popular designations: EN 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10, often as AISI 304).
  • acid-resistant steel– a subgroup of stainless steels with increased resistance in chemically aggressive environments; example: EN 1.4404 (X2CrNiMo17-12-2, often AISI 316L), used where chlorides or acids are present.
  • heat-resistant steel– grades designed for operation at elevated temperatures (example international designations: AISI 309, AISI 310), used in high-temperature applications.
  • duplex steels– combine austenitic and ferritic features, offering increased strength and resistance to stress pitting corrosion (example European designation: EN 1.4462, corresponding among others to S32205 in international documentation).

In the description of each product in the store, you will find exact material designations (EN / AISI / UNS), allowing you to match the steel grade to the operating conditions: medium, temperature, and pressure.

How to choose a seamless equal tee?

When selecting, pay attention to several key parameters:

  • diameter and wall thickness – in accordance with the installation design,
  • steel grade – select based on the type of medium (water, gas, chemicals) and temperature conditions,
  • pressure class and connection standard – in Europe, PN designations are often used, while in international documentation, ANSI/ASME classes are also encountered,
  • internal and external finish – important for sanitary and food installations,
  • material compatibility with other elements of the installation – to avoid galvanic corrosion.

If you have any doubts, you can contact our technical advisor by providing the medium, temperature, and operating pressure – we will help you choose the appropriate grade and dimensions.

Who are these tees intended for?

Our offer is addressed to various groups of recipients:

  • installers and contracting companies operating in the construction and HVAC industries,
  • industrial plants and companies in the chemical, food, and petrochemical industries,
  • shipyards and offshore companies,
  • auto workshops and production plants,
  • hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts carrying out small, demanding projects.

Practical information and summary

By choosing seamless equal tees made of stainless, acid-resistant, or heat-resistant steel, you obtain components with high durability and tightness, designed for applications ranging from gas installations and industrial pipelines to demanding offshore or process applications. Before purchasing, check the material designations (EN / AISI / UNS), diameter, wall thickness, and pressure class (PN/ANSI). If necessary, we provide technical assistance in product selection.

Acid-resistant

Austenitic with molybdenum – resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion; for chemicals, processing and chloride environments.

Austenitic stainless

Chromium-nickel without molybdenum – the standard choice for structures, food service and interiors.
