- heat-resistant steel– grades designed for operation at elevated temperatures (example international designations: AISI 309, AISI 310), used in high-temperature applications.
- duplex steels– combine austenitic and ferritic features, offering increased strength and resistance to stress pitting corrosion (example European designation: EN 1.4462, corresponding among others to S32205 in international documentation).

- pressure class and connection standard – in Europe, PN designations are often used, while in international documentation, ANSI/ASME classes are also encountered,
- internal and external finish – important for sanitary and food installations,
- material compatibility with other elements of the installation – to avoid galvanic corrosion.
